What’s the difference between PX Series, Performa Analog, and Performa Digital?

The right choice depends on how and where your team works.

  • PX Series is the simplest option—license-free, easy to set up, and ideal for teams that needstraightforward communication without added complexity.
  • Performa Analog is designed for businesses that need more reliable communication indemanding environments, with dedicated frequencies and programmable channels to helpteams stay organized and reduce interference.
  • Performa Digital is built for more complex operations that need clear digital audio, greaterflexibility, enhanced privacy options, and room to scale as communication needs grow.

In technical terms, PX Series uses FRS, Performa Analog uses LMR, and Performa Digital uses DMR Tier II.

Do business radios require an FCC license?

FRS band radios like the PX650 or PX280 are license-free, making them incredibly easy to set up and use—just charge and go. Performa series radios do require a site license and registration with the FCC, but your business receives its own dedicated frequency bands that help eliminate cross talk, interference, and channel congestion.

Can Cobra radios work with radios we already own?

Compatibility depends on frequency bands, analog or digital technology, channel programming and other system settings. Share your current radio models with a Cobra specialist to confirm options before purchasing.

Can radios be programmed for different teams or departments?

Many Performa models support configurable channels or groups, depending on the model and setup. A specialist can help determine an appropriate configuration.

What should I consider when choosing two-way radio gear for my business?

When it comes to two-way radio accessories for your business, you should consider accessories that improve comfort, mobility, and usability based on how your team works. A Cobra specialist can help identify the right options.
